Four races were held under cloudy skies on Saturday. The course was shared with 10 Albacores, 7 29rs, and half a dozen 5o5s. "The RC had a gun, and weren't afraid to use it" - the races were held promptly, and latecomers to the line regretted any tardiness at the docks. Saturday was a bit sloppy with occasional puffs of marginal trapezing wind, dying off throughout the day. Dave & Mona put together a very strong performance, ending day 1 in the lead, but unfortunately were unable to maintain the pace in the very light conditions of Sunday. It was bright and sunny, but a better day to spend at the beach than out on a Fireball. Two races were held, both shortened as the breeze died off after the start.
A keg party and BBQ was hosted at Steph & Gary's place to celebrate Gary's 40th birthday - a good time was had by all.
This regatta was the 2nd half of the Ottawa-Montreal Challenge, following the Quebec Provincials 2 weeks before. Lowest total points over the two regattas went to Rob Levy. His name will be the first to grace a new perpetual trophy built for the Challenge. A total of 7 boats participated in both regattas, and all were given awards to appreciate their efforts.
